Slovenian central train and bus station in Ljubljana modernized its schedule and billboard signage with deployment of 58 harsh environment high bright LCD displays ranging in sizes from 38,5”, 46” and 55”. With this acquisition travelers will be better informed than they sued to be at all places around the train station, making their life slightly less stressful.
Ljubljana central train and bus station was using classic mechanical passenger signage and paper advertising boards. Property managers wanted to improve main national railway hub info system and centralize its control. It was necessary to set up complete scheduling information signage. All of displays had to be made to operate in very dirty environment, with high dust and toxic particles accumulation.
Additional issue was the worst agent of all and arch enemy of electronics, carbon brake dust that will not only inhibit cooling and attach to external construction but will cause magnetic disturbances and short circuits on PCBs.
Complete digital signage solution was needed. Special scheduling content management software is driving 58 harsh environment displays of different types covering all of external platforms, underpasses, entrance areas, walking areas and indoor places. Ultra stretched 38,5” (16:2,2) external screens were used in groups of four to inform passengers at underpasses about platform directions and departure/arrival information, horizontal ceiling mount 55” displays were placed at the platforms and two 46” portrait freestanding displays at the indoor/outdoor entrance.
To cover whole station landscape format 40 ultra stretched custom imotionLITE 38,5” displays were placed at underpasses in modules of four, sixteen imotionFLOW 55” landscape wallmount at waiting platform ceilings and two freestanding imotionLITE 46” portrait units at the entrance. All of the units have our default all-in-one digital sign set up. Beside importance of harsh environment operation, it was essential for displays to possess intelligence system, capable of reporting units health status for immediate reaction in case of failure and minimal on-site activities.
